David Preissel is a photographer and drummer based in Switzerland. His deep passion and admiration for the raw beauty and vastness of the frozen north were first sparked during a road trip through Iceland.

Over the years, David has returned to Iceland, Greenland, Norway and the Faroe Islands many times. Some of these expeditions have taken him to Earth’s most remote and extreme locations, where he has accompanied renowned photographers, mountaineers and guides such as Benjamin Hardman and Siggi Bjarni. Most recently, he ventured into Svalbard, reaching 79 degrees north alongside German photographers Daniel Ernst and Natascha Klein.

Inspired by nature and winter’s icy breath, David has found a sense of belonging in dark, moody and melancholic imagery. Over time, he has refined a distinctive photographic language and editing style that has attracted the attention of highly regarded artists worldwide. His work moves through darkness, stillness and hope, shaping visual tales of melancholy and bittersweetness.

David grew up in a musical family and, in addition to his photography, is an established drummer who has played sessions with national and international artists. He’s a proud endorser of TAMA drums and Sabian cymbals, and performs live worldwide with his own band, glaston.
